Access To Justice
Since its establishment by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2012, the Access to Justice (ATJ) Commission has been involved in many projects and efforts to expand access to justice for unrepresented and vulnerable litigants across Illinois. The ATJ Commission works in partnership with local courts, circuit clerks, legal aid funders, and the private bar to improve the court user experience—with a focus on removing barriers for self-represented litigants.
In 2020 I had the opportunity to create brand for the ATJ as the next step in the Commission's plan was to roll the program out state wide. I developed a logo, graphic guide, a few initial pieces of collateral, and collaborated with my writing partner to develop a narrative that informed the brand voice.
Fun Fact: Former Chicago Bear Kicker Bob Thomas served as the Illinois Supreme Court Justice Chief Justice from September 2005 to September 2008. Before joining the Bears he helped the Fighting Irish become the 1973 National Champions after making a 19-yard attempt to beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
