Venice Beach
I spent about a year in Venice Beach during 2020-21. It’s like being at the circus everyday. It’s dirty, loud, colorful, energetic, and raw. I’m drawn to the skateboard culture here because of the attitude and fearlessness these kids bring to what they do. I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a neighborhood that celebrates individualism the same way they do here. From the people to the architecture, there’s a surprise around every corner.
Venice, originally called “Venice of America,” was founded by tobacco millionaire Abbot Kinney in 1905 as a beach resort town, 14 miles west of Los Angeles.
